What happens during a touch up appointment?
Have you ever wondered what happens during a touch up appointment? If so, keep reading…
After your full set of lash extensions has been applied, I recommend all of my clients schedule a touch up appointment every 3 or 4 weeks depending their individual needs. Just like the hair on our heads, the eyelashes are always growing and shedding. What this means for your lash extensions is that within a few weeks, some will have grown out by several millimeters and your lashes won’t look as neat or as full as they did when they were first applied.
For every touch up appointment, there are a few steps I like to take such as:
Assess your lashes to determine how quickly they’ve grown out
Remove any lash extensions that have grown out by 2mm or more
Replace any lash extensions that have been removed with new extensions
Apply lash extensions to any new lashes that may have grown in, in between touch ups
I follow these steps for every client is because they are critical to determining how often each client will need to come in for touch ups. Once the lashes have grown out, it can make the overall lash set look messy and it can even cause the natural lashes to break if the extensions twist and turn. This is why it’s so important to be consistent scheduling touch up appointments - so you can ensure your lashes look their best at all times.
Another reason why it’s important to schedule touch up appointments on a consistent schedule is because a specific amount of time is allocated for your touch up based on the lash set you’re wearing. The Everyday Set touch up is 45 minutes, the Posh Volume touch up is an hour and 15 minutes and the Luxe Volume touch up is an hour and a half.
In my experience of 16 years, I’ve been able to determine that within a 3-4 week timeframe, you should still have 50-80% of your lash extensions attached as long as you’ve followed proper aftercare and as long as you have this amount remaining, I can fill your lashes back to 100% fullness in the time that’s scheduled.
I hope that this helps to provide clarity on the purpose of touch ups and how they’re performed at Dela Antoinette’s. To schedule your next touch up, click this link.
Here are some additional tips for maintaining your lash extensions between touch ups:
Avoid rubbing your eyes
Use a lash extension friendly cleanser to wash your lashes twice a day
Avoid using oil-based products near your lashes
Schedule regular touch ups to remove any extensions that have grown out.
By following these tips, you can help to extend the life of your lash extensions and keep them looking their best for as long as possible.
